Bess De La Cruz & Earth Snake Art
Is an Illustrator based in Wisconsin
Ever since I completed my undergraduate degree in Illustration (2012), I have been fortunate to explore different avenues of creativity. For five years, I worked as a marketing and design coordinator, gaining valuable experience. However, my true calling led me to pursue a master’s degree in education (2021) and teach elementary art. Currently, I work as both an art teacher and an illustrator and enjoy teaching both in person during the school year and virtually during the summers. Alongside my teaching, I continue to engage in client-based illustration projects and explore my personal artistic endeavors.
Nature has always been a significant inspiration for me, and I love incorporating characters and creatures into my artwork. I enjoy working with various mediums including digital art, watercolor, ink, gouache, oils, and most recently, wood burning. My creations range from whimsical and unconventional scenes to those that touch upon challenging emotions like fear and anxiety. As I work on my illustrations, I find solace in the company of two feline companions, Sherlock and Watson, and a comforting cup of tea.
I hope you will find a piece of my artwork that resonates with you on a personal level. It is my sincerest desire to connect with others through my art and evoke emotions and inspiration. Thank you for joining me on this creative journey and for supporting my small business!
